Sometimes it is super fun to go paddle on a different and new location. We have paddles the Amsterdam canals many times by now and even these canals get the same after a while. SURF LIFE camp owner Harry Glotzbach is a dear friend and BOGA teamrider and lives right at the Amsterdam Forest where he took me for a paddle last month. While paddling the idea popped up to organize a up tour in this beautiful forest in Amsterdam. We had some rain, we had some cloudy, we had a bit of wind... But who cares... It was one of the most impressing paddles ever in Amsterdam. Afterwards we had some drinks and bites (thanks every one for taking some) and Harry and his girl played some songs so it did actually feel like an after paddle summer picknick! Felt like we were in a fairy tales forest trees hanging over our heads and silence filled with rain drops and birds singing. Amsterdam Forest we'll be back!

A couple of weeks ago Ryan Salm from www.ryansalmphotography.com send us an email asking if it was possible to do a fun shoot of paddlers in the Amsterdam canals. Off course! We agreed that a super early morning paddle will be fun as Amsterdam wakes up we will be paddle through the waking up city. The bad thing is that when we meet weather is real bad, rain is pouring and it is cold but... we had a great morning paddle and fun with Ryan and his 'home made' raincoat :) Thanks and we look forward to the pictures we took at the famous Seven Bridges.

As we spend lot's of time on the water this season we need to protect our skin and lips. something you often forget and while being on the water you can burn badly. That's why we are offering some Island Tribe products at M&M SUP this season. Founder Carlo tells something more about Island Tribe: "We chose for Island Tribe as they are especially developed for watersports and lasts longer while spending time in and on the water. the sunscreens are developed and researched in Australia and South Africa to ensure that the formula really works. Island Tribe sunscreens are designed to give the user maximum protection against both UVA and UVB rays, more than this, the specific formula will stay on your skin for the duration of your activity."
Thats exactly what we need as we do not want to have to apply new sunscreen and get our hands so slippery we can't hold our paddles anymore.
For the fourth time the Hiswa paddle tour will be held in Amsterdam. This year the 19th of March about 200 stand up paddlers will paddle through the Amsterdam canals during the HISWA boatshow. Most of the paddlers will attend the tour and a maximum of 50 people will race thought he canals. M&M SUP is proud to be involved in organizing this first season paddle activity in Amsterdam together with Hans Schouten from sup frenzy and partner in crime concerning all Friday Night and other Amsterdam them paddles since 2011. More info and registration via http://www.hiswarai.nl/suptocht/
If you are interested in attending and need a rental board contact us and we can hook you up with a board to take part in this super fun tour.
Boga paddle boards got know for their BOGA YOGA paddleboards. actually the very first paddleboard designed for YOGA on the water. It's a board shaped and designed with leaders in the SUP and Yoga industry. The board offers the ultimate balance on the water and the decked is as soft as a regular yogamat without losing grip while practicing. Boga Yoga paddle boards are being used by Rachel Brathen a.k.a. @yoga_girl and Sarah Tiefenthaler (founder Yogaqua in L.A. and teaching celebrities as Lady Gaga). At M&M SUP we are using these boards since we opened in 2011 and love the look, feel and glide of these boards. Come join us for a floating yoga session this season. We are sure you will fall in love with the boards and the feeling sup yoga gives you. Practicing yoga surrounded by water and nature is the ultimate experience. Next to the classes M&M SUP is also an official re seller of BOGA paddle boards and has all BOGA YOGA models on stock; regular, bamboo, soft top and even an AIR model. Check out http://www.mm-sup.com/morenemm-bogaboards-com/ for more info on these, or other BOGA paddle boards, We are more then happy to welcome you for a class, or more and perhaps a test ride.
The only board designed and shaped with the leaders in the SUP YOGA industry. Designed for the ultimate balance and stability for YOGA on water. Beautifully designed pad is extra long (for those downward dog poses!) and is soft and comfortable on the feet, hands, and head! Made with quick water wicking material. The yoga mat type pad is super soft yet has a great grip. The official SUP YOGA Board of the Wanderlust YOGA Festival and SUP YOGA leaders such as Rachel Brathen aka Yoga Girl. M&M Stand Up Paddling has been using these great boards for yoga classes and regular start up classes as the boards are super stable and also great fun to practice your balance. Off course you are always welcome for a test ride and purchase your own BOGA YOGA paddleboard; the regular blue one, a bamboo version or (if you are a traveller yogi/paddler) the inflatable BOGA YOGA paddle board. M&M SUP has all on stock.
Last summer the VAART TV crew came for a stand up paddle experience and to film their 2016 TV show trailer at M&M Stand Up Paddling in Amsterdam. We had the best weather, some M&M SUP friends came out and joined the crew and host Laura had a great first paddle board experience. Everyone loved the good-looking and stable BOGA YOGA paddle boards and even an occasional handstand was tried... We get in the mood when watching this sunny trailer filled with fun paddle board moments. Come join us this summer for sup lesson, sup tours, sup courses and sup tours.
Just before the Amsterdam Light Festival is finished we paddled it with another group of enthusiastic (winter) paddlers. This time we had much better weather then December when we enden up blown and rain away... Amsterdam by night on a paddle board is a beautiful experience, especially with all these Light art objects along the Amsterdam canals and on the Amsterdam canal bridges. Next time we will probably paddle a Sunday afternoon tour through the center of the Amsterdam city and have a break for some hot choco or teas along the way. Sat announced soon!
Since winters are not winters anymore we at BOGA paddle boards are able to keep stand up paddling all year long. As the water is colder you do have to be aware that you go out on the water and stay safe! Dress properly: wetsuit, neopreen pants and top or wear a drysuit and thick surf boots. Take an iPhone along, in a water proof case or bag and do always wear a leash attached to your paddle board. We also recommend you to have a look at the weather forecast before you go out and check if the winds will stay calm. Now you are set to go and explore winter sunrises, sunsets or go out with some friends for a fun ride if the colder weather frightens you. It;s much more fun then your local gym on a sunny wintersday! Enjoy and share the stoke.
Amsterdam organized the annual Light Festival again this year. Lot's of Light objects make by several artists and shown at the waterfront or in the canals. Super fun to paddle through. Last Saturday we organized a paddle tour at the Light Event but were not very lucky with weather... Hard wind and rain. But we still had a great time paddling through this festival and enjoying the huge Light objects from the side and over the Amsterdam canals. We are all very happy with the new Zhik wetsuits to keep us warm in the hard weather conditions. The Amsterdam Light Festival stays until the 17th of January and we will paddle it the 9th of January again. If you want to join us send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org Sorry for the blurry picture...
Together with paddler Marije den Breems Morene Dekker wrote a book about stand up paddling. the how's, the do's, the dont's, SUP start up and advanced tips, SUP tricks, interviews with some Dutch paddlers and a specific SUP routes in every Dutch province. The book is a fun read and the pictures add some fun and color to it. You can order the book (Dutch only, sorry) through M&M SUP. Just drop us an email at email@example.com and we send you the book. Signed if asked for. The book is only €22,95 and until we have enough stock we ad a free SALT Magazine to it.
We love to share new routes with all of you and are planning a SUP tour every Friday night next season. We wil paddle Am,sterdam and the area like Nederhorst, Weesp, Muiden, Broek in Waterland, Twiske, Ouderkerk aan de Amstel, Abcoude and would love to paddle in many more new area's. It's super fun to explore new routes with other paddlers. If you would like to show us around in your own neighborhood let us know and perhaps we can set up a sup tour. We can't wait for the season to kick off. Until then do not forget to check out the tours we organize in Amsterdam, such as the Amsterdam Light paddle on the 12th December and the 9th January. You will find all events and tours on our event page or social media.
After a couple of years it's time to change. So we did. Welcome to our new website. As you can see we are still working on it and any tips or comments are welcome. We're not online all the time as we'd rather go out and play..
